Watch your bike

Police are warning motorcycle owners to beware bike thefts during the rally.

Four very expensive Harley-Davidson motorcycles were stolen this week from Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes said.

"People need to be vigilant,'' Knipes said. "There's a criminal element that will follow these rallies around and take bikes.''

Knipes advised bikers to park in secure locations and chain up motorcycles.

North Myrtle Beach Interim Public Safety Director Lt. William Bailey said bike theft is not a huge problem there but said two or three motorcycles were stolen.

"It's all up and down the Grand Strand,'' he said. "Professional bike thieves target here and Daytona.''
