Bishops say rules on gay parents restrict religious freedom
I say you can't take billions of dollars of taxpayer money then openly discriminate against a group of those taxpayers in the way Southerners did to blacks during the Jim Crow era. Blacks were forced to subsidize the separate-but-clearly-unequal school system, among other things.
Catholic Charities, because of its religious views, has decided that gays are not worthy of being parents through their programs. Catholic Charities has to choose, to either continue doing some pretty darn good and important work or to stand by their stated principle - that homosexuality is a sin - and stop doing that good work or do it without taxpayer dollars. We all must make such choices.
