Inspiring study about Down syndrome at odds with perfect baby pursuit
I disagree with anti-abortion folks in a significant way. I don't believe the state should have the final say on a personal issue such as pregnancy and abortion and women's health. I don't like abortion in most situations, either, but believe the best and most practical way to reduce them is by reducing unwanted pregnancies, not by labeling women in difficult situations murderers.
But in a real way, I am glad abortion foes are pushing the "life" mantra. We need to have an appreciation for life, and given the advances in medical technology, we can too quickly and easily substitute the sanctity of life for the sanctity of superficial-ness, as evidenced by our quest for the perfect baby, as though such a creature ever existed, to the detriment of potentially less-than-perfect children who too often are robbed of a chance at life.
