My thoughts have pretty much remained the same: This is sleazy politics and even if she did have an affair, it is different than what Gov. Sanford did because of its impact on the state. Before these allegations -- and if it is true, and we still haven't gotten confirmation that it is -- it was simply a private matter. That would have been the case even after these allegations, expect that Rep. Haley has forcefully said it is untrue. As long as it isn't true, she'll be fine. But ...
And last point: Will Folks began this whole thing saying he was trying to protect his family from a story that was to be released. I don't buy his explanation. He could have simply told his wife about the affair -- in private -- to make sure she would not be caught off guard by a published report. And that would have been the end of it. Instead, he published it on his Web site. I don't know about Haley's motives, but I know Folks' are not pure.
