Micro Reconciliation And Republican Filibusters

Micro Reconciliation

Reconciliation Isn't Historic, But Republican Use Of Filibuster Is

If the minority party is going to increase its use of the filibuster -- which is its right in the U.S. Senate -- why would we expect the majority party not to use reconciliation? When the parties come to an impasse, like they have on health care reform, should the majority party just stop doing what it believes it needs to do because the minority party won't go along? If that's the case, then why have a majority?

And to say one more time, as the Micro Reconciliation link above explains -- Democrats are not trying to pass a health care reform bill through reconciliation; they are going to make changes through reconciliation to a bill that has already passed with 60 votes without reconciliation.
