Students Talk God After Evolution Lesson; Teacher Responds

I'm not even sure how to categorize the recent case out of Wake County, N.C., where a teacher was discussing evolution in a class and students asked about God's hand in creation and after wards left her a Christmas card with 'Christ' underlined. It only escalated from there, with the teacher unwisely posting heated comments on the public side of her Facebook account. Now she may lose her job. Her reaction to the students was over-the-top and her Facebook postings were offensive and clearly ill-advised, but so was the reaction of the students to the lesson. Both sides seem to be a bit too full of themselves. Teachers should teach the science of evolution and students should be allowed to ask questions -- even ones about the role science believes God did or didn't play -- without this kind of controversy erupting.
