Ambivalent.

I am somewhat given to the idea that the potential for earthquakes, tsunamis, etc., exists in 2012 secondary to the planetary alignment.

I am somewhat intrigued by both the Mayan calender ending then, and both Edgar Cayce & Nostradamus predictions for then, as well.

However, to say that it is "the end" exclusively contradicts what Jesus said, that even He didn't know when He was supposed to return, only the Father, His Father, and that no man (woman, child), knows.

Thus, it is safe to say it might not be "the end," but likewise that does not equate to a lack of increased wretched weather, volcanic activity, tsunamis, etc., either.

Yes, I know this is a circular unending chatter in my head about this, but at least I am open to all possibilities.

Philip Gray

There's only one option on that list where the world really ends. The others are just possibilities that may our species. We occupy less than .001% of what constitutes our world.

I'm interested in respect to what affect I may have in averting disaster but not anything which I can't effect.

It never ceases to amaze me how many of us fail to rationalize and misunderstand the relevancy of mathematical probabilities in our lives. People think they get luck from rabbit feet, four leaf clovers, lucky underwear, etc.

Personally, I don't believe in luck but I'm given to understand it works even for those who don't. Thus, my only interest in prophets and fortune tellers, who seemingly never over-ride average probabilities, is in the entertainment value.

If one can see a tree die, it is not a stretch with all other life, and even objects that are not alive, that erode or decay, to say, "Nothing lasts forever". There is no magic or myth or superstition needed to state the obvious.

Our planet could be hit by a meteor tomorrow. Yellowstone park is a mega volcano, but most scientists agree that it is not at a volatile state right now.

Life on this planet will end and even non-life such as the planet and sun will end. Humans will go extinct most likely even if the cosmos doesn't wipe us out, or even if(more likely) we don't wipe each other out.

If you look at mythological history every generation of every culture and every religion has had nutcases predicting the end.

"The end" is a "NO DUH!" But not because of myth or superstition, but mere natural cycles and random kaos in our universe.

This movie is based on Mayan mythology.

If a meteor hit our planet during that year even on the exact date, every nutcase from every religion and every conspiracy theorist would shout "AH HA!" And claim it as their proof that their deity or superstition was valid.

The scientist would merely say, "A meteor hit our planet, and that could have happened at any time"

Just as people die every day, even if a cosmic disaster hit us on December 21 2012 it would be nothing but coincidence.

David Koresh thought the world was going to end. Marshal Applewhite thought the world was going to end. People in both Islam and Christianity think the world is going to end in their time.

TRUTH! No one knows, and when something happens it is not magic or religion or superstition, it is reality not dependent on superstition, magic or myth.

The 2012 crowd is as bad as the ghost crowd and as bad as the voodoo crowd.

"The end will come" DUH! Thanks for the update, but please don't insert Micky Mouse explanations into reality.

Brian37

And to any Christian buying this movie as some sort of documentary, if you actually believe this garbage beyond mere entertainment, if they were so wise, then why are you not worshiping their polytheistic gods?

Brian37

If you go to this movie viewing it as anything more than entertainment, you need a white sports jacket with the buckles in the back and a long stay at the rubber room Hilton.

I beleive 2011 things will start happening as we have never seen but not the end yet.2015 the planets will align and cause a darkness to cover the earth.still not the end but do keep watch after that.the question shouldnt be when but what kind of life will you be living when it does and who will you be living for.
here is a good website on endtimes...www.profoundprophecy.com
look up scott dryer.he will be in south carolina nov 27

Bill Ass

Knowledge tells us that false prophecy will be told upon the earth as we hear today. Most of you lack wisdom and don't understand knowledge when you hear it and the truth will confound your mind.

A contribution from a guy who makes the information easy to process from both sides of the whole 2012 argument.

Philip Gray

LOL... Scott Dryer says the anti-Christ is coming.

Every anti-theist is an anti-Christ. There's been multiple anti-Christ around since before Christ was supposed born. The anti-Christ appear more often than Christ.

Issac Bailey

Brian37: The movie was fairly entertaining. I had to go because the same guy directed my favorite movie: "Independence Day." Yes, it's another cheeseball flick, but I like those sometimes.

Brian37

I would love to think that all people who go see this movie think of it as a "cheeseball flick". But having been around a while and seen people take the X-Files seriously, and "Ghost Hunters" seriously, AND actually met TWO people in my past talking long before this movie about 2012, there are going to be nuts who take this movie as more than entertainment.

Never underestimate the power of the gullible in mass numbers.

Brian37

Bill, there is no such thing as a "prophet". That is merely the muttering of ignorant myth lovers. "Prophets" have been around in polytheism and monotheism and all of them are nothing but garbage sold to the gullible.

Walt

Consider a Palin/Beck ticket in 2012. That would surely end the world as we know it.
Otherwise the religous nuts are just that, nuts. Nobody knows the future!

Bill Ass

Mad men like you call people religious nuts and you know nothing about them. Wisdom is too great for people like you to understand and you will never understand the simple basic knowledge given to mankind. Knowledge tells me confident that you are a guide for the blind who belong to the instructor of the foolish. Wisdom has confounded your mind to know the truth and you seem to be blind to the wisdom of truth. Wise men layup knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. He who hides hatred with lying lips, and he who utters a slander, is a fool. It is a sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding has wisdom.

Walt

I didn't mean all religious people are nuts.I apologize if you took my comment personal but anyone who thinks they know the future based on a religious belief are deceiving themselves.

EdieCain

brian ,you dont like yourself much do you.
phillip do you like scott dryer ? he will be in prosperity sc on nov 27

EdieCain

scott doesnt say that .THE WORD DOES

Disciple

In Jeremiah 33:19-21 The Lord states that the world will not end.Movies that say "the world will end..." are just that...fiction.If we can break His Covenant with day and night...then He can break His Covenant with us.The world as I know it will end the day I pass from here to eternity with my Lord and Saviour.
Show me where The Word says the world will end.

Philip Gray

EdieCain,

I don't know Scott. He's probably very likable. I've met many very likable wolves wearing sheep's clothing.

At around 10:00am this morning, there were a couple of men in suits at my front door. They seem very likable. They preceded to try to give me pamphlets and read scripture. I told them I was an atheist and asked how they would like me showing up with pamphlets and reading Dawkins at their front door at 10am on a Sat.

I really don't mind religious people. I understand they are just doing what they think to be good, the same as I do. I just wish they'd figure out that I won't try to teach them science in their homes and churches if they don't push their churches into my home and kid's schools.

Bill Ass

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of your words. The fool is one who does not desire the instruction of the Bible and will not adhere to its Wisdom. Wisdom is too high for a fool: because he will never comprehend the basic knowledge give to them. As coals are to burning coals, wood to fire; so is a contentious man who will never comprehend the truth and allow his own to believe a lie and burn in hell. So he proclaims to be an atheist which is a lie from hell because there can’t be a true atheist but a complete fool.

Brian37

QUOTE:"Mad men like you call people religious nuts and you know nothing about them."

You are right, I am mad, but not "mad" crazy like YOU falsely want to believe.

I am mad at people selling absurd claims of invisible friends that don't exist. Just like you would be mad if someone went around claiming TODAY that the sun was a thinking being.

Do not mistake me as being "mad" like Hiltler. He had no human empathy, I do. Merely saying to people, "You are full of it on this particular claim" only makes me mad about the claim being made. It doesn't make me an inhuman monster who wants to oppress people.

I am sorry you are so deluded that you cannot see the difference.

Just as Galileo was RIGHT in telling the masses that the earth was not flat, I am justified in my anger that people AROUND THE WORLD still buy into claims of magical super brains with no physical body(be it your god claim, or any other of any other religion)

There is nothing wrong with wanting humanity to grow up.

Brian37

QUOTE:"The fool is one who does not desire the instruction of the Bible and will not adhere to its Wisdom."

What "wisdom"? Claims of girls getting pregnant via ghost without TWO sets of DNA? Human flesh magically surviving rigor mortis?

That is "wisdom"? Ok, that and Harry Potter CAN fly around on a broom is "wisdom" too.

Walt

"A fool who knows he is a fool is wise at least thus far
But the fool who thinks himself wise is a fool indeed".

"The difference between a yogi and a mad man is the yogi knows he is mad"

Mr.Ass, please inform me of your definition of what wisdom means, instead of a having a meaningless discusion, so we then maybe could have a more serious discussion of what the heck you are talking about.

Bill Ass

That’s the point you do not understand wisdom and you never will be able to comprehend it. Wisdom is too high for a fool to understand or receive it. Just the basic wisdom will confound your mind and yes it’s a meaningless discussion because you lack the knowledge to comprehend what was said. A wise man will comprehend wisdoms and understand the knowledge receive from it. Just listen to what you have said and then maybe you will understand a little but I doubt you will ever have the knowledge to understand wisdom.
