Carlton

If it can go forward without her, I have no problem with them trying to prosecute. But forcing her to show up is cruel and unusual. If this is going to do her more harm than society good, I vote we leave her the closure she has obviously gained since her victimization. Is this prosecution for her justice or just to sustain the rule of law? And which is more important in this case?

Ditto all that, Mr. Bailey & Carlton, too.

Nothin' left fer me to add. ;)

Here's the thing.

There's no need for the woman to show up.

He already pled guilty to one of the lesser charges, in exchange for getting the more awful ones dropped.

His "crime" at this point is skipping out after the guilty plea.

It is a little late for justice, but justice is an elusive ideal anyhow. What's also at stake here is that rule of law thing, and that also elusive ideal that we're all equal before the law. Either we aim for that, or we essentially say if you're a rich Hollywood guy who had a troubled past, you can plead guilty and then flee the country, and if you have enough money to live nicely in France, then it's okay, then.
