We can't get this wrong; it's too important

While critics of President Obama should stand against him -- even hope he fails -- on certain domestic policies or the way he handles them if they disagree, we all should be able to put aside political fights to realize that we mus do the right thing in Afghanistan: Views on Afghanistan Buildup Bring Clinton and Gates Together in an Alliance. It's simply too important to get it wrong or to make this a political football. He needs to take his time, assess the situation, make his decision then simply give the military and others the tools and resources needed to carry it through. While I believe President Obama should strongly consider the recommendations of his top generals, I don't agree with those who say he must follow what they say. He is the commander-in-chief. He makes the decisions, not the other way around. I'm just hoping after weighing all the options he makes the right one, whatever that is. Make political hay with the Olympics and the Nobel Peace Prize -- but not Afghanistan.
