Gov. Rick Perry Is Doing A Disgusting Thing

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is doing a disgusting thing by blocking an investigation that will officially say that his state executed an innocent man, and that Perry refused to consider new evidence that could have stopped the execution. There's no other way to say it. Instances such as these are why I remain adamantly opposed to the position that the system is more important than the individual, because in this case the system is being used to cover up a crime -- the execution of an innocent man by the government -- for purely political reasons. I'm told folks like Perry are about justice, but tell me how he is even in the ballpark. Disgusting. Pure and simple. The evidence is clear. Arson ``science'' that was in place when this man was executed has been widely discredited -- in the same way 30 years of FBI bullet matching technology has been as well -- and yet folks like Perry are more concerned with looking tough on crime than acknowledging the mistakes and trying to make the system better. Disgusting. Period.

Update: Compare Perry's actions to South Carolina's in the Tom Joyner case. My native state comes out much better.
