I believe moderate Republicans such as U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine made the economic stimulus package better by making sure some conservative staples -- such as tax cuts and an emphasis on helping small businesses -- were incorporated, as well as knocking down its size to $787 billion from the $1 to $2 trillion some left-leaning economists and legislators wanted. Maybe she'll do the same with health care reform. I particularly like the public option trigger she is pushing. If she does it again, this time she might be the only Republican in either house to vote for it. For stimulus package, at least two others joined her.
