Makes Me Want to Defend Joe Wilson ... Almost

The way this Boston Herald columnist describes South Carolina makes me want to defend Rep. Joe Wilson (I won't), though I'm not sure if I'm not angrier with her or him. What galls me most about what she wrote were these two lines: ``We're the cradle of liberty. They're the cradle of secession.'' She bragged about Boston's importance during the American Revolution. That's fine. But it's obvious she's absolutely clueless about the vital role South Carolina played, and that she doesn't know South Carolina stuck it's neck out the earliest by becoming the first state to sign the Articles of Confederation, our original constitution, and provided the Americans with the fist major victory during the war at Sullivan's Island, which gave other colonies hope that this thing could actually be done. I could go on but will save my other thoughts for tomorrow's column. What Wilson did irks the heck out of me. But to see so many other people use that to denigrate South Carolina is beginning to irk me much more.
