Church Reported to State for Gay Exorcism Video

Is this offensive or abusive? A friend of mine, who is a conservative Christian in every sense of the word, said no, that it is commonplace in some churches to try to pray out demons and spirits -- whether they concern drug or alcohol abuse or sex addiction. And she said if the 16-year-old really went to the church for help, as the pastor said, then there's definitely nothing wrong with it. Obviously, I have issues with it because I don't believe the traditional view of homosexuality, thatit is sinful, is an inaccurate way to apply certain passages from the Bible today. I believe such displays and beliefs contribute to the higher rate of suicide among gay teens. It's already hard enough to deal with sexual feelings as a teenager, whether you or gay or straight. But to have to deal with the added burden of being labeled an abomination in God's eyes, that's really heavy and unfair.

Trying to fix a "problem" with exorcism is like trying to fix a transmission with a feather boa.

I am not gay, but if I was, I would not be ashamed of it, nor would I let other people's hang ups lead me to partake in such superstitious silliness.

Gays have nothing to be ashamed of and it is time for the world to grow up.

I watched a exorcism being preformed on a young female when I attended a baptist college. The girl flipped around, screamed obscenities, etc. The future preachers gathered around her in a circle restraining her, chanting, screaming begone demon, etc.

The girl was obviously enjoying the show she was putting on, tearing her shirt to expose herself, etc. She may have behaved better after the exorcism, for a while; she had gotten the attention that she was after. She had her group of christian boys.

The girl avoided me the next day a school. I asked a friend about it and they said she was scared that I was infected by demons... I sure didn't feel infected. I was being a good boy, all I did was go to school, work and dorm since I really had no transportation and money to do anything else.

The future preachers she hung around, whom preformed the exorcism, normally came over to my neighbors dorm room to watch porn and drink beer, until they left to the strip clubs.

Attending that baptist college is likely part of the reason I'm so cynical about religion.

I actually like watching some of these “preachers” on TV sometimes - They are much better than Saturday night live as far as comedy - There is a guy who sells this stuff called “no evil oil” - You put it on you and it gets rid of demons and any other dudes who like to hang out with Satin -

This “magic” oil also cures other stuff also - Once in awhile I watch this other preacher who sells these things called prayer cloths - You rub the cloth on you and you get cured -

I bet if you are a gay person and want to get “cured” - If you bought the “no evil oil” from the one preacher and poured it on the prayer cloth from the other preacher - Then applied it to your private parts - You would be “cured” -

I used to live in Lynchburg Va, Falwell's Liberty "U". Their basketball team, one year, got wasted off campus in a house next to the one I was living in. I used to work with LU students and that garbage about the school having dry campus is bs. Sure the campus is dry, but the students would cover for each other and go off campus and the RAs didnt care.

As far as beer and porn, it certainly is not something under age people should get a hold of. BUT, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't as a teen, try to get a hold of those things.

And this 16 year old's seemingly voluntary move to this was because of the homophobic push his surroundings and family pushed on him.

I have seen many a "fly by night" type of "preacher" with debatable credentials have his CHRISTIAN congregation members line up for "laying on of hands" to "cast out" the "demons" OF...

...smoking

...obesity

...a need to wear glasses

...poor hearing

and the list went on & on & on & on & on.

Needless to say, even my Pentecostal mama knew this was hokum, and we left as quickly as we could.

We found these places were always nondescript, "evangelist" who showed up out of nowhere, with no known honest certifications, renting "meeting" spaces in various businesses late on weeknights.

Driving home from one of these who did this, my mama asked me why I thought they did so.

With certainty then, and now, I said to her "Because it takes away personal accountability! These people don't have to blame themselves for being fat - they were gluttons! It was a 'demon of obesity' that made them fat!" "They didn't have a smoking problem because they inflicted it on themselves! A 'demon' did! It's comfortable for them to reject personal accountability."

I believed that then. I believe that now.

Let me add this one caveat, however.

Demons ARE real.

The occult IS real.

Satan IS real.

However, it is IMPOSSIBLE for a CHRISTIAN to be "possessed" in such a manner.

In fact, NO ONE can be "possessed" except at some level they WANT it. God does not allow even Satan to override our Free Will.

Think about that for a moment.

Additionally, one can be "oppressed" as a Christian, but NOT POSSESSED.

But oppression cannot account for obesity, smoking, alcoholism, poor hearing, wearing glasses, etc.

Organized religion has told people stuff like “believe” the Earth is the center of the universe - “Believe” that some old lady is a witch - “Believe” we speak the words of God - “Believe” Moses parted the Red Sea - “Believe” Jesus walked on water - “Believe” Mohammed moved a mountain - Believe Believe Believe -

When you question the belief to any religious leader of any religion - You are told to have ‘Faith” -

Some people believe that in Area 51 we have an alien spacecraft with two dead bodies of extraterrestrials -
With a flying saucer recovered at Roswell -

Hey I love this country and I served in the military but get real -

We could not get the Bay of Pigs right -
Our government could not even keep Watergate a secret -
We can not find “weapons of mass destruction” -
Our political leaders can not even keep their affairs with women secret -

Yet - Try to imagine that for over fifty years - One of the biggest things that ever happened in the history of mankind - The discovery of extraterrestrial life was kept secret -

The logistics alone is mind-boggling - Hundreds if not thousands of people in over the last fifty years would have had to “keep a secret” - In the government - LOL -

I guess they think that it goes something like this on inauguration day - A secret military guy in charge of the dead aliens comes to the new president and says -

Now I know that not everyone who reads the bible believes in the space aliens but
what about some of the people who believe in the bible and also “Believe” in the space aliens -
So if man according to the bible was made in the image of God - Then whose image did the advanced space aliens in area 51 come from -
It seems those particular people who just “Believe” need to make a choice - Bible or space aliens -

I bet instead of an exorcism to “cure” gay space aliens those aliens just shoot an “anti gay ray” -
On the other hand they may just be advanced enough to realize that the universe is a big enough place for everyone including gay people and not feel they need to be “cured” at all -
